Our story began like "a calling", it was as if a seed was sown, watered and grew in an instant. It all began when our founder was seeking to buy a truck at a very affordable price, for he wasn't looking for anything fancy nor specifically new, he just needed something neat and functional, that could help transport some farm produce. He was thus for the sake of affordability wasn't just looking for vehicles with the tag "fairly used", but more precisely "distress sales". So he forthwith began his search on numerous Whatsapp groups hoping to find an offer with the right price but still functional (that is in a very good state).

 

After seeing a few offers and samples posted at will, it was either they were too expensive or seemed to be packed with hidden problems, or simply didn't look presentable enough, but above all was the dissatisfaction at the difficulty of sourcing and searching. There wasn't just enough options! Thus no surety. And the few that were seen took a great deal of repetitive inquiry and finding, so much that it seemed laborious a task to realize. Within that moment, our founder thought to himself saying "why join many groups and chase after different persons messaging different numbers, why not just bring those seeking to sell to one central location". Then he forthwith created a Whatsapp group and named it "distress sales". At this moment enterprise was never the goal, neither was it in view, but rather tactical convenience in response to our founder's pressing need at the time. Like "magic", within the first few hours of sharing the group's link, it became populated with 300+ members and continued its rise. Within 3 days the group surged to 700+ members, filled with both potential buyers, agents, friends and families of owners, and even owners themselves looking to sell their items.

 

This baffled our founder and was to him an obvious and strong indication of a societal need that hasn't yet been given a central avenue to be responded to adequately, especially with the "Japa" trend in recent times. The Whatsapp group in a week became filled, and there was a need to create subsidiaries (That is, more extensions and/or sub groups), and have them duly regulated. Then, as was with the former idea to promptly create a Whatsapp group that brought people to a central location with the singular objective of distress sales, another idea was also birthed in an instant after a few days of observing the growth and activity pace of the group(s). It then occurred to our founder that simply operating on Whatsapp was very limiting, there was thus an obvious need for a wider vision, a some worth global (national) and central online location that can house millions of persons (community members) looking to sell or buy distress sale items of all categories, and in different states.

 

Thus our founder as before acted swiftly to firstly secure a domain that boarders around and touts the hot topic "distress sales" one broad enough to encompasses and encapsulate subtopics like "Japa sales" (which was briefly considered, but immediately dismissed as the principal). A domain with an extension that communicates the "web" and connectivity. After the domain purchase, our founder also immediately went ahead to register the company name with a title that not only communicates the topic "distress sales" but also the domain and eventually its associated website. This was intently done by our founder, so that merely saying the company name makes the hearer to forthwith think of an online central space (website) for distress sales which when re-represented, is in fact the domain name: "distresssales.net". Hence the business name DISTRESS SALES DOT NET. And that folks is how our journey began up until what you are witnessing this very moment.
